Make sure your students are aware that failure is the result of their lack of effort and not because they lack the talent.
• When your students do well, do not just overlook that. You need to praise them so that they know they have done well. Moreover, public recognition will also motivate them to do well.
• When you are in the class, let the students know that they are the only ones who are in control of their success or failure. If they have failed, then do not punish them. Instead, you can have a constructive conversation with them and tell them how they can become better in the future.
• Instead of encouraging competition among the students, you should persuade them to co-operate them with each other. Ensure that they know the main goal is to learn and not to compete with each other. You should monitor all the students to make sure that each and every person is accountable and they are willing to help each other.
